Maths

This week we have been using our addition strategies to solve perimeter problems. We started today's lesson discussing some measurement type problems,

Every day we have been working in groups in maths to solve problems. This helps us with our mathematical thinking and talking about our maths. It is important to be able to justify our answers. Often problems have multiple answers but it is ok to sometimes get some parts wrong because that is how we learn!!

We have found that we need a lot of maths knowledge and some strategies to solve real life problems, so we have been practicing some of these skills too, for example place value and additions by counting on using numbers to 1 million and decimals.

We have also learnt how to use BEDMAS this week when calculating long equations.

In the afternoons, we have been looking at statistical inquiries. We have created bar charts, line graphs and pie charts about how we get to school, temperatures in Kapiti and the length of insects.

Everyone can do well in maths!
